Looking for relatives of family of Donald MacDonald, son of Red Archie (Hoogary, son of John, son of Colin who married Annie Morrison in 1827 and emigrated to Nova Scotia, with his siblings Angus, Alexander, Allan, Margaret and John - I believe that this was Donald was the son of a second marriage for Archie as a half sister remained in North Uist. This is my paternal lines. Through my great grand mother I am looking for the family of Allan MacDonald, son of John, son of Donald, son of Donald "Og", who came to Nova Scotia in 1821 with his wife Mary MacLean and his adult children John m. Jane MacNevin, Mary m Lauchlin MacKinnon, Alexis m. John Dunlop, James Edward m. Mary Campbell. It is believed they lived on Lewis before coming to Nova Scotia - Allan at one time Lived on North Uist and it is believed he is some how related to my paternal line from there.
Anyone with connections, contact me. I am keeping even loose matches for possible connections later. Nina

Nina:
I am most interested in your MacDonald line, especially in finding out what happened to the Alexander MacDonald that you mention. My husband's grt grt grt grandfather was an Alexander MacDonald whom we believe was born about 1816 poss. in Tarbat, Ross & Cromarty. He apparently married an Isabel MacMichael/McMichael (unknown where they married). They settled first in Fox Harbour, Nova Scotia, then moved to Westchester, finally settling in River Philip. I have a lot of data on the Alexander MacDonald birth & marriage information from Ross & Cromarty, but don't know enough to make an exact match.
Any suggestions or possibility that your MacDonald's and mine are related or one in the same?

Angus & Margaret (McLeod) MacDonald
decended from Angus MacDonald born 1820 in Kneep, Lewis, Scotland; son of Wm & Mary (MacRitchie) MacDonald. Angus married Margaret McLeod, born 1825 in Lewis, Scotland. His son William Angus born in Canada, married Mary Alexander. Would you have any info on the McLeod line?

Betty, I have located my Alexander and confirmed the same. I am corresponding with a descendant Jane MacDonald. She lives in California. Alexander (mine) lived in Blues Mills, Cape Breton for a while after emigrating in 1928. Nina

John MacDonald b. 1858; North Uist > NA > Australia
Hi Leese Sorry - no suggestions. My family left North Uist in 1827 and their father was already deceased at the time. Their sire there was Archibald (Aka Red Archie) son of John, son of Colin. Archie was born in Hoogary Uist and this was a second marriage for him. A half sister to my GGg grandfather remained in Scotland. I unfortunately have not had a lot of luck tracing other members of this branch back in Scotland. My gggrandmother was also a MacDonld who we think was somehow related but they have a lot of John's in the family also. They emigrated to Cape Breton in 1822. Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to make it back to Scotland and check out parish records there. good luck. Glad to know there are at least one other Nina MacDonald around even if it is a second name.

Try looking for James - just as many as Johns. Seeking info James married Margaret MacAskill Dec 1852. He stowed away on HMS Hercules on way to South Australia. Am interested in anything about these two families and North Uist

Re: North Uist MacDonalds
Here's a very loose connection, the significance of which I know not. Just found out today that my G-G Grandfather was a Hector MacDonald Donald of North Uist.
