Hello,Searchers in Scotland,

I am Debra nee,McBride Cheater and I live at Parkhill,Ok. just On the outskirts of Tahlequah,Ok.in the USA. My maternal Grandmother was Maude Elizabeth Ross b.April 6,1914 at Cookson,Ok. I have been been researching my Ross family for 12 years and have found alot of info. on them. Her parents were(my gr.grandparents)Joseph McDonald Ross b.June 7,1877 at Mountainburg,Crawford Co.Arkansas,Usa.He married Malitia Emmaline Thornton in 1900 in Sequoyah Co.Ok..His father was(my gr.gr.grandparents)John Alexander Ross b. 1843/44 at Barry Co.Missouri,USA. He married Mary Jane Rush August 1865 at VanBuren,Crawford Co.Ark.USA. His parents were(my gr.gr.gr.grandparents)James Ross b. possibly 1820/25,but no proof. He was suppose to have been born in or near McNairy Co.Tennessee. His birth date or place of birth has not been proven. He married Charity or Charlotte Baze or Baize on August 28,1841 at McNairy Co.Tn.USA. They moved into Barry Co.Missouri by 1842/43 as John Alexander(their firstborn)was born there.They had another son, Hiram McDonald Ross b.1845/46 at Barry Co.Mo.He was unmarried and died at age 17 due to the cause of the War of the Rebellion(also aka.The Civil War or War Between The States.) Their last child was Sarah Jane Ross b.1847/48 no info. on her except she married a man by the name of Willoughby(dont know first name). My gr.grandmother Maletia always told us that our Family of Ross came from Scotland,and we come from a long line of ministers. I have searched and searched to find them,but with no luck. I cant get past my James Ross,due to not being able to find anything out about him that is definite. I found some info.on some Ross family in Sutherlandshire,Scotland. but not for sure they are mine or not. I'm kinda leaning toward the family of Daniel,James,and Andrew Ross(all brothers) born in Sutherlandshire Scotland.They had one sister,but I have no name.Daniel was Chief John Ross father. I have info. on James,his brother and still cant find a connection with my family. As far as Andrew,I cant find anything about him. I'm not for sure that I came from these Ross's,but I am searching everywhere. I am interested in knowing why they named my ancestors with Alexander,McDonald. I also have first names as George Ross,Thomas Ross,Samuel Ross,William Ross,Joseph(my gr.grandfather),John Ross,Martha Ross,Hannah Ross,Louis Andrew Ross,,and etc... I dont know where else to go to search for them. I've searched everywhere in the USA. and cant come up with anything. So I thought my next best chance would be to post messages to someone in Scotland. Maybe there could be a link with my family,since we were always told they come from your area.Maybe,there could possibly be someone that can help me out,or send me info. about these ministers in Scotland, or about these middle names of McDonald and Alexander,and Andrew. They were named this after their ancestors, or thats what I have known for The Ross families to do. I am very curious to know where my Roots lie. Please, I would deeply appreciate any info.and will share info. I have as well. I do have the pedigree on the Chief John Ross line.
