Seeking links to a SUTHERLAND family on the 1813 voyage of the Prince Of Wales from Scotland to Hudson Bay.
Donald "mor"/"mohr" SUTHERLAND of Kildonan and Rose GORDON of Loth married 1806 Parish of Kildonan. My husband descends from their daughter Betty ("Betsy") who married in Ontario 2. Simon FRASER of Borrobol & Helmsdale. Simon FRASER emigrated to the Scotch Settlement near Bradford, ON circa 1832.
According to Rev. Donald Sage (Memorabilia Domestica), Donald "mor" SUTHERLAND's older brother John "The Middling" SUTHERLAND sailed on the Prince of Wales in 1813 and died shortly after arrival in Churchill. John's wife was Catherine GRANT. Some of their children emigrated with them in 1813 and continued to the Red River Settlement. At least one of the sons - George SUTHERLAND - was among the original Scotch Settlement migration from Red River (circa 1820). Another son and one daughter settled in Oxford County, ON. Son Alexander settled in Holland Landing, Simcoe County, ON. Seeking any information about George SUTHERLAND who went to the Scotch Settlement. Thank you!
