My great-great grandfather, William D. Sutherland, was a Sgt Major, 93rd Sutherland Highlanders, stationed at Kingston, Canada 1836-44.

I know he emigrated to northern New York State, & his three sons emigrated to western Pennsylvania (Oil City), with two of them migrating westward to Indiana/Michigan/Kansas.

I do know he was originally from Golspie, county Sutherland, but I do not know how or when he joined the 93rd...Any information would be gratefully appreciated.
