My most distant ancestor is James Main who married Mary Mitchell; he was a farmer at Balmitchell, a few miles east of Slamannan. His son James also farmed at Balmitchell. His grandson John, married Helen Mitchell. I have not been able to find James' parents and am hoping that there may be someone with information about either 'Main' or 'Mitchell' who might be able to provide me with more information about either line.
