The furthest I have been able to trace back my ancestry is to a James Ross born 1776 in North Carolina. He had a son named Andrew Martin Ross (b. 12 May 1813), and daughters named Sarah, Samantha, and Elizabeth. The names James and Francis have occurred several times in later generations of my family.
