Looking for *any* information surrounding William Edwards, Gunner Royal Artillery, married an Agnes Henderson in October 1817 in Leith North.

Had three children, as best I can tell, John [1], William and Isabella.

John [1] and Isabella seem to have been born in Tynemouth, while William was born in North Leith.

John [1] and Isabella are living together [John [1] being an engineer] in Neilston in the 1851 census.

John [1] went on to have an illegitimate son, again John [2], in Neilston in 1846 - with a Margaret Gillespie. Isabella married a Matthew Waddell in 1852.

John [2] married a Margaret Seath in 1872 in Greenock, and they had a son David Edwards [another boilermaker] in 1875.

Any information on this line will help me move it along. I'm struggling to get more info on John [1] and Margaret Gillespie's relationship. Though John [2] alludes to them as his parents, I can find no marriage cert., and John's [2] birth cert. has him as illegitimate.
