Thank you. I send a similar picture home to the family and asked them what it reminded them of. the answer was "Hogwarts" And indeed the tour bus driver stated that this school architecture was the inspiration for Rowling's school. True? Or was that just for tourists.
In any case, the inscription on the tombstone reads:
Erected by the brethren of the Lodge Journeymen Masons Journeymen Edinburgh No. 8.
In affectionate remembrance of brother Robert Phemister who was associated with them upwards of fifty years, twenty-five of that period having held the office of secretary.
Born 24 August 1801, Died 26 March 1873
Other than we having the date of 26 August the above dates seem to be correct. [Parish Register for birth and Statutory Register for death].
So for further research since it does seem to give the name and number of the lodge.. what would be the next step? And thank you for all your help. Hope you enjoyed your time at the Heriot school.
