Dr John Woods Beck married an Eliza Moore on 18 Oct 1840in Gorbals. The OPR is not clear and it has been transcribed as Eliza Moone. The family are clear that it is Moore and tradition has her related to Sir John Moore of Corunna. We have not been able to find a clear link. Her parents? in 1820? were John Moore and Elizabeth Cherry. Dr Beck had just graduated at Glasgow University.
Any info on Dr Becks training or on Eliza's details would be wonderful. Why was she married in Gorbals? What was she doing there?
