My gggrandfather David Dawson married Janet Paterson Jan. 1, 1868. Marriage stat shows parents Thomas Dawson & Helen Wilson. I can't find any birth record for David and while searching for marriage record for Thomas & Helen ( can't find that either) found a marriage record for Thomas Lawson & Helen Wilson around the time suspected. Given that old records were handwritten & after looking at quite a few wonder if it's possible they are the same and if so were they Dawson's first or Lawson's? If I could find the birth record for David with parents marriage date would be a big help. Any help would be appreciated. Tks, Lynn
