I have noticed the posts all talk about Stirrats born at the end of the 1700's. I too have a Stirrat born then:

William b.abt 1787 married Jean Blair Nov 1816 in Kilwinning, Ayrshire. In 1841, the Stirrats were living in Irvine.

Could all these Stirrats mentioned been related?

The name Wyllie is on my grandmothers side. she was born in Dunbartonshire in Helensburgh in 1889. she had 7 siblings. One of them was Robert Wyllie Bulloch who had 1 son and 2 daughters. My grandmother gave me this info before she died in 1991.

I just found the cemetery where Andrew Stirrett is buried. On the tombstone it reads that he was born March 17, 1793 in Ayrshire, Scotland and died April 3, 1874. He was married to Catherine Currie in Scotland. Next to him is the stone of his son Robert who was born Dec. 27, 1851 and died Aug. 25. 1880 at the age of 28. Andrew was the gggrandfather of my husband. Is this your Andrew?

Hi Margaret,
I've read some of your messages and feel that we have some connection. The names HUGH PICKEN and AGNES MORTON feature in my family history. I was in Canada recently and had some success searching there too.
Do any of these names mean anything to you -
AGNES THORNTON
MARGARET ANCELL
WILLIAM DUNLOP PICKEN

Hi..My interest in the names you mentioned is really that of JOHN PICKEN, and the 'Dunlop' part of Isabella's name as it is unusual and I am searching for information regarding the family of WILLIAM Dunlop PICKEN b. 23 Dec 1909 in Calgary, Alberta. He died 13 Jun 1966 in Vancouver, BC.
His father was HUGH PICKEN who was from Scotland and
I believe his mother was named AGNES. They are all part of my family tree which has taken me to searches in Scotland, Canada and Australia so far. I am in England, UK. Regards, Doreen

Finally found the 'potential' maiden name of our Jean, "Jennie" and/or Jane, m to our Robert GRAHAM, they were b 1797 to 1801 and m about 1815.

Our GG Grandfather was to be the youngest of nine, however, we located details that may note a Mary b after our James, 1834.

Last night, I finally noted three marriages in Brant, Ontario - Mary, Thomas & John.

John was b about 1831-2 and he was the owner of a cooperage, where his siblings worked (even the older ones after they emigrated to Ontario from Kilmarnock, with spouse). Thomas was a few years older. This Mary is showing as b 1841...

Anyway, the three certificates show Robert with Jane - Robert with Jane Picken and Robert with Jane Picking.

Hoping you have details to bring this 'loop' of our branch together.
