John was a "Pit engineman". Cannot locate his Death Reg. on the GRO site. It is believed that he died between 1830 and 1855. I'm trying to locate his parents names. Not sure if the OPR for Ochiltree would indicate that. There are several "John's" born in the period in which he would have been born (in Ochiltree and "neighboring" parishes.) Any suggestions and/or thoughts as to how I might pursue the issue?

Have you checked the entry for his marriage in case it mentions what parish he was from? The OPRs rarely mention the names of the parents when a couple marry.

Have you searched for the family in the 1841 and 1851 censuses?
What age and birth locations were given for John?

Once you have John pin-pointed to a location, check the MIs for each parish.
