We are looking for Thomsons from Kilmarnock. Would love to find out who the parents of Alexander THOMSON, born 1777 were.

Cheers, Patti

I am also looking for a Thomson, specifically James Thomson who came to the US in the early 1830's. I have read that he
was a "printer of calico", but I know that he raised horses on his farm in Michigan. He seems to be from a family that was well off. He may have spent a short time in Penn

Hi
I can't help with Alexander b.1777, as I'm not quite back that far yet. However, I have a Robert THOMSON b. 11 Jun 1820 in Kilmarnock who married Janet HUNTER on 28 Nov 1851 in Dundonald. They did have a son, Alexander, born in 1870.
If you think there's any connection , I'd love to know.

I have a Robert Thomson born about 1800 in Kilmarnock. He married Mary Muir. They married 1824. Their daughter Margaret was married at Dean Lane in Kilmarnock. On a 1819 map of Kilmarnock, it list on Dean Lane an area marked belonging to the "Heirs of R. Thomson". I'm thinking Robert's father was Robert as well and he died while the map was being laid out. Have you found any connection to Dean Lane. If so we are probably related. Also on the map near Dean Lane is a Dam labeled Rob. Thomson & Sons Dam. If you find any connection, please let me know. Since I posted that message, I have found that our Alexander Thomson most likely did not come from Kilmarnock, although we haven't found him in Wigtownshire either. However I have collected quite a few Thomson events from Kilmarnock. I went through the registers on film from 1771-1800 approx. and have made photo copies. If you have any persons who were born or married in this time frame, let me know and I'll check my files. Regards, Patti

Hi Ducan
Janet HUNTER'S parents were John HUNTER and Jean (JOHNSON). She was christened on 25 Jan 1830 in Dundonald, but I don't have her birth yet.
I'd be interested to know how this matches.
