Does anyone have any information on the Blairs in Ayrshire.My Gran was Elizabeth Blair, her father was John Blair born in Ireland but came ti live in scotland, Cambuslang and ayrshire He is buried in Stair with his wife Elizabeth O Hara and some of his family. His parents were William Blair and Margaret Craig( cregg).

I have a marriage certificate with some of your names on it. It is not my family (I have the marriage on the next line down). Here is the info:
24 Sept 1897 marriage in Renfrew, Renfrewshire (not all that far from Ayr or Cambuslang) of Alexander Blair, 21 (iron turner) of 5 Dunlop St, Renfrew, to Isabella Chisolm, 19 (thread mill worker) of 10 Canal St,
Renfrew. Alexander's parents were William Blair (fireman) and
Mary Ann Blair, maiden surname O'Hara.

JOhn Blair was born in fermanagh in 1858 I dont know when he came to scotland. He married Elizabeth O hara on 31.12.1886 in st columbas episcopal church in Newton in cambusland.His parents were William Blair farm labourer and margaret Craig who was deceased when John got married in 1886. John Blair stayed at 95 hallside village and elizabeth at 106 with her mother and step father before they got married. They had one son born in cambuslang, William, and the rest were born in Ayrshire, Robert, Margaret,George,Mary, Elizabeth and Peter.

Have you searched for the family in the 1891 and 1901 censuses, both are online at Scotlands People?

If you contact the cemetery department at the local council, you could do a lookup in the lair books, if you know their dates of deaths.
