I have obtained an extract of a marriage from 1832 in the
Parish
of Dalry. It says Proclaimed 3 days, Booked 15th Dec. 1832. Could someone explain the term Booked? Is this the marriage date? Thank you.

Hi Lynn,
To proclaim is to declare publicly and make widely known the, intention to marry.
Booked is the date the marriage was booked for.
Many of the `marriage` entries in the OPRs are in fact the proclamations of the intent to marry.
