Hello Trish, I am descended from John McKechan and Mary McClatchie. The David you mention had a brother, Alexander, who is my direct ancestor. John McKechan went blind later in life, and his wife, Mary, died of rabies in West Kilbride.
I have a lot more detailed information, and I will dig it out for you if you like.
Cheers,
David Gordon.

I have some more:
David McEachan was born on 20th May 1846 in West Kilbride, second son of John McEachan and Mary McClatchie. In the 1851 Census he was with his parents at Mill Lane, West Kilbride (by this time the spelling had changed to McKechan). In the 1861 Census he was a Stable boy at Springside, West Kilbride. In the 1871 Census he was a Farm Servant at Goldenberry Farm, West Kilbride.
In 1875, he married Jane Jamieson, daughter of William Jamieson and Helen Feddes. Their children were: Ellen, Mary, John, William, David, and Jane.
Ellen(Helen) married Peter Jardine Dunlop in 1898
Mary married Samuel Paisley in 1912
John married Jessie McAulay in 1904
David married Jessie McAughtrie McEwan in 1907
Jane died a spinster in 1914, only 23 years old.
I hope this is useful to someone
David.

Dear David,
Seeing your response to this post I can honestly say it did "come as a help to someone". Me. Write me at my olde address. Too much time, too much life has been lost. I need to know how you are. As for me.... Doesn't matter. I only wish to discuss the Gordon's. I haven't much time left, and it's not my heart. That was broken years ago...and never has healed. No matter what....I tried...

Wish you love and peace,
Diana Gordon
