Since posting the original message new details have come to light - info on death certificates was not accurate.

Ther Marriage certificate states that William Blain aged 19 years married Isabella YOung aged 20 years at Auchinleck on 27th June 1856. William was the son of William Blain, engine keeper and Mary Wallace of Cumnock and Isabella was the daughter of Charles Young and Mary Pollock of Pottery Row, Sorn. Both mothers were deceased by this date.

Any assistance with this new information would be greatly appreciated.

I am anxious to know a little bit about any children of James Manson - as in a "swatch o' Manson's barrels" for I am doing a wee bit of research.

James Manson was, I believe, the Inn-keeper of the Tarbolton Inn in which Robert Burns was initiated into Freemasonry.

My American daughter-in-law has traced the family line back to an Ayrshire graveyard where lies James Manson - described as a cooper and I simply wondered whether they might be one and the same.

I'd be most grateful for any help which you could give me.

Rodger Manson ( from an Ayrshire family background though lived all my life in Gourock )

I have a William Tannock b 1841, son of David Tannock and Abigail Brown who farmed at Woodend Farm, Tarbolton. He married Jane Gibson McCall 1873 and had 9 children: David, John, William, James, Helen, Jane, Mary, Jessie, Andrew. I believe William descends from a John Tannock married to a Mary Millar who died 1840. I have a bit more if anyone wants to get in touch.
