my Grandmother Jean thomson Orr b 9-25-1881 to James Orr and Jane Herron in Burnside Girvan was raised by Alexander John McKie and Jane Herron in Kirksowald

Did I help you find the birth of Jean thomson Orr. The name rings a bell? Was she illegitimate?

I would check this family out in more detail. This was the only John born in Girvan in the 1881 census cd. You did not give the mothers forename. There is also a McBRYDE as a boarder that is a scholar - I suspect more likely he is a younger brother to the mother. Note Agnes is still listed as married so her husband was elsewhere on census day, most likely working elsewhere and is recorded elsewhere.

Thank You!! I am so glad youare still there. Yes you did help before and snet info the janey orr was illegitimate daughter of James Orr and Jane Herron.
I do not have the first name of my Grandmother only McBride apppears on the death certificate.
Jane Herron was the daughter of Alexander herron b about 1834 and Jane Thomson b abt 1830.
I just seem to be getting no where other than fo rthe help you provide and I do thank you so very much.
I am in a small Wyoming town and the only tool I have is my computer -- you are so kind.

Also looing at the death certificate for my Grandfather it shows that he was born in Girvan in 1881 Nov 11
