Hi. there.

What dates are you talking about?

I have a Margaret McKail married a John Tunnock in 1859

Her father John McKail, originally McHoul married Marion Murphy in 1839

Marion's sister Elizabeth married John Drinnan in 1835.

Regards

Duncan

Hi Duncan,
I saw your msg.in reply to William Knox. We have a link thru the Fairly & Timpany name
Do you know who Mary Fairly was linked to?
I have sighted a Margaret McKail Timpany, b.5/2/1862 in Kilmaurs parents:
James Timpany & Jane Drennan.
I noticed on another msg.you posted, you had the names Robb& Murphy this is also on my fathers side, the link there is with the Connaway/Conway folks.
I would be interested to hear if any of these names tie up with your research,
Regards Jean [UK

Hi Jean,

Mary Fairley was married to Quintin Dykes son of Quintin Dykes and Marion Murphy (Marion married Quintin Dykes after John McKail died).

As far as I know Quintin & Marion only had the one child?? whereas John & Marion had 4 children:
Margaret, John, Jean & David.

Mary Fairley & Quintin Dykes had two children: James b1872 & Quintin b1875

I have not followed out Mary's line yet so if you have any further information!!

I have some details on Quintin Dykes ancestors if you want I'll send it separately.

As I have only recently started looking at the branches off my main Murphy line, (thus the recent postings), (Marion's brother David m Ann Hunter), I still have a lot of connections to make. I had not previously come across the name Timpany.

I also still have a lot of work to do on David's cousins Robert (Kilmarnock) and William (master tailor in Monkton - I think he died in Ayr - he was married twice - 1st to Catherine Wilson) who had a son William Hay - they were all named in the Will of William Hay their uncle who died in Monkton in 1841)

I have Drinnans connected to Murphys a couple of times - Symington seemed to be a link.

The Robb name is connected through the Hunter side but again I had not previously come across the name Connaway/Conway.

Andrew Robb married Jean Hunter 1850 in Monkton - Again this is a branch and while I have a great deal of detail about the Hunter side, I have not yet followed out the Robb side at all.

Best Regards

Duncan

Hi there,

I have to come back on this one again - I believe I may have found William & Margaret living in Symington in 1841.

I also found their marriage (or banns) on 8 Dec 1837 in Symington and the birth of a daughter Jean on 27 Jun 1841.

There were a number of Drynan families in Symington in 1841 and I believe they may all be related.

One of these families was John & Elizabeth Murphy along with their children James, Margaret, William & John.
John & Elizabeth were married (or banns) on 17 Jan 1835 in Symington.
Elizabeth was sister to Marion Murphy who married John McKail ( McHoul).
Their brother David Murphy was my 2xggfather.

It is early days yet but I am pretty sure I will be able to prove the connection.

In meantime I would welcome any detail you have on the Drynan/McKail connection.

Regards

Duncan
