I am related to Richard Steers / Stairs b. 1756, who married
Eva Barclay in NYC, USA in 1782. He then was part of
the Queens Rangers. In 1783 they left to go to the Fredericton
area of New Brunswick , Canada, and had a family there.

There was a William Steers who also lived in Brooklyn, NY
at the same time as Richard, he may have been a brother.

One report says Richard , William, and their father may
have emigrated to the USA, together, and they may have
been associated with the town of Stair, in Scotland.

I have located the town to be about 8 miles east of the
town of Ayr, and about 7 miles west of the town of
Cumnock. Does anyone know if this is the right location???

Are there any, or were there any, Steers / Stairs families in
the town of Stair ???
