John Craig and Elizabeth Orr

This is a reposting after some new information has surfaced.
John Craig married Elizabeth Orr in Ayrshire but place unknown.
John was born 1811, Elizabeth 1815.
John arrived in New Brunswick, Canada 1841 and Elizabeth and their firstborn, Thomas arrived 1842. After this, they had Elizabeth (born 1844), Jane (born 1846), Mary (born 1848) and Agnes (born 1849). They settled in Nelson, just outside Chatham. John was described as a farmer.
Now, I need to go back from John and Elizabeth. Does any of this ring any bells with anyone? I hope so.
Thanks.
David.

Carol, I am indeed greatful for that information as I had reached the brick wall stage. Are you able to give me the source for that information and are you "Craig" or "Orr" hunting yourself?
I'm thankful for your response.

Hello David,
I have Craigs in my tree that married Mitchells, the line I am searching. My father in law asked for my help and when I said yes he dropped off a Microfiche machine and a bunch of microfiche! I got tired of looking at Mitchells so decided to read of some other "walls", to see if I could help. Your info was on the Surname Index to Marriages in old Parochial Registers to 1855, Scotland/Ayr. #6025626. You can view the records at your local Family History Center. If they don't have them, they can order them for you.

Here is my Craig relation: (Deep breath!)
William MItchell(1865-1943) married Margaret Reid(1870-?)
who was the daughter of William Reid(1842-?) and Ann Dunlop(1838-?) who was the daughter of Francis Dunlop(1805-?) and
Jean Craig(1806-?) who was the daughter of William Craig and Ann Templeton.

Do any of them sound familiar to you?

Carol

Thanks Carol. Am confused about Family History Centre though, in particular, where these are to be found. You'll know that I'm in Nova Scotia, Canada?
Alas, none of the names you added are familiar to me at this time, but who knows? By next week, they may be.
Thanks again.
David.

Hello David,
Family History Centers are run by the Mormon church and they are found all over the world. Go to www.familysearch.com
and you will find about six Centers in Nova Scotia. They have a lot of available online records also, that have been submitted by people around the world. Its a pretty good site, it has helped me quite a bit in my searches.

Well, Happy hunting

Take care,

Carol
