I am searching for the parents/grandparents of my ancestor Henry McEWAN who was born about 1822 in Scotland. He immigrated to the U.S. (New York State) about 1853. He settled in Pine Hill, Ulster Co., N.Y. (United States) and died there in 1876. He first married Margaret ???(b. 1823 d. 1861) about 1847. I am seeking her maiden name also and she was born in Scotland. Their children were John, Margaret, William, Agness, and Henry. For his second wife he married Elizabeth HAYNES (1834-1902) about 1862 and their children were Leander, Mary, Richard, Elmer, Orson, and Cora.

I received recent information that a Henry McEWAN m. a Margaret ALLAN on 12/1847 in Craigie, Ayrshire, Scotland. This Margaret was b. 7/2/1823 in Irvine, Ayrshire, Scotland and was the dau. of John and Janet (CONNEL) ALLEN. Is this Henry McEWAN and Margaret Allen the one and the same people for my ancestor Henry McEWAN and his wife Margaret? Their marriage date agrees and also Margarets's birthdate. Are there records for their children born in Ayrshire, Scotland? For my Henry and Margaret (as stated in the very beginning) their children named John (b. 1848), Margaret (b. 1851), and William (b. 18520 were all born in Scotland. Thanks for any help!!! Joe
