I am looking for any information on the family of William Aird (b 14 Jul 1818 in Old Cumnock, Ayrshire) and Margaret McDonald. They were married 8 Dec 1839 somewhere in Ayrshire and later lived in Muirkirk, where three of their four children were born (Charlotte, b. 30 May, 1840; Margaret, b. 1842; Matthew, b. 9 Feb 1845). By the time the fourth child, james was born, on 12 Jul 1857, the family had moved to Dundee.

I have no information about William's parents, nor about Margaret McDonald and would be most grateful for any light that anyone might be able to shed on the matter.

Sincerely,

Steve Aird

Hi

Do you by any chance have the name MIDGELY on your tree.My mothers' middle names were Aird Midgely so they came from somewhere along the line. Her grandmothers' name was Margaret McDonald Nelson.

Thanks for taking the time Margaret

Possible Midgely connection

Dear Margaret,

Thank you for the suggestion. I am unaware of a Midgely connection, but that does not mean it does not exist. If your Margaret McDonald is the same as mine, she would have to have remarried. I just cannot respond intelligently at this time. If anything turns up, I will let you know.

Thanks.

Steve Aird
