Robert and David, sons of the family of Robert WHITEFORD and Janet FAIRLEY of Stewarton emigrated to Canada about 1825, settling first at Laprairie and then near Ormstown, Québec. Robert Jr. married Margaret LENNOX of Ochiltree

My grandmother was Jeanie Reid descendant of John Reid who settled near Ormstown, Quebec in 1847. To the best of my knowledge, this family were the only Reids to settle in this area. I was born only 8 miles from the homestead and only 1 mile from the home of 2 of the sons. Please e-mail me with more info and will share. I have a full family tree up to 1966, when my father passed away. I still live close to the area and know a large number of people there.

My Reid ancestors settled near Ormstown Quebec in 1847 and to my knowledge this was and is the only family of Reids in that area. The latest Reid to live on the original homestead was Howard Reid. Please get in touch with me with more details.

I was born Kerr. and Im descended out of Reid. how? Im not sure. My father was Larry Dale Kerr. brother of wallace, Jesse, and Gerald. They are sons of Earl and Marie.

Hi Marjorie, I can trace my Kerr line back to William Kerr (b. 1801) married to Mary Craig (b. 1801) who came to Canada in 1827. They were from Kilbirnie and Dalry, Ayr, Scotland and settled in English River, now Riverfield, Quebec south of Montreal. I was born and raised in this area and I have a fairly good record of the family from that time on down. The Kerr-Reid connection was through Albert Kerr who married Jeanie Reid, who were my grandparents. I am looking for information on the Kerr line. My grgr grandmother Jane Shearer Taylor b.15 Mar 1847 Caldercruiks,Scotland d. 10 Mar 1912 East Whitburn,Scotland - m.James Reid b.19 Dec 1852 Glasgow,Scotland d.24 Mar 1892 Bathgaye,Scotland.
They had 12 children together. But Jane had two children prior to her marriage to James Reid. Their names were James Mackie b.3 Apr 1867 Riggend,Scotland {father unknown}. and Margaret Kerr b.24/25 Feb 1869 Dalziel,Lanarkshire,Scotland
,{father unknown}. Most of these Reids and my Anderson line
grew up in Blackburn,Scotland, but moved around Whitburn and Bathgate,Edinburgh,Scotland.
