Looking for parents of James Gibson (b 1835) married Mary Scott (b abt 1835) on April 3, 1855 in Auchinleck. James'parents may be William Gibson and Ann (Anne) Weir. No clue at all on Mary Scott. Need information on any of the above listed people. Does anyone know anything? Thanks!

Hello Lynette,
Thank you for including the link to your Murray research in Ayrshire.
I have two David Murray's that I am interested in.
David Murray, born 1839 Stevenston, son of Duncan Murray and Ann Frew.
Also David Murray, birth unknown, married to Margaret McKean, born Stevenston 1834, daughter of Robert McKean and Agnes Campbell. David and Margaret were married 1851 in Stevenston.
Have you in your research of Ayrshire's Murray's had an opportunity to look at these two families?
Any help would be appreciated,
Yours truly,
Linda...

I really don't have any information on my Weirs. I don't even know where to begin to find it. I do know that Ann Weir married William Gibson on August 13, 1831 in Cummnock, Ayrshire,Scotland. I think that my Ann was the daughter of Robert Weir who also had children Marion, Lillian, Margaret and Agnes (who married a Thomas Gibson). Due to her age on marriage cert and 1851 census I think that these two Anns are one in the same. I don't have any more infol Do you recognize any of these Weir names?

I am trying to trace the descendants of James Weir, born 1801 in Auchinleck and his wife Jemima Ferguson. They lived at Welltrees and had a son Robert born 1825 and Alexander, born 1827. After Jemima died, James Weir married Jane Dickie. Robert Weir married Helen Baird in 1845 and had at least 3 children born in Old Cumnock, James Ferguson Weir born 1846, Thomas Weir born 1847 and Marion Black Weir born 1849

I have an Ann Weir in my information. I only have limited information. She was born August 4, 1781 New Cumnock, Ayrshire. Married John Gemmill April 2, 1799 in New Cumnock Ayrshire. I have a photocopy of the bans of the marriage that doesn't provide any information of parents. Ann Weir and John Gemmill immigrated to Canada in about 1821. Ann Weir and John Gemmill had 9 children: Jean, Andrew, Janet, Ann, Mary, John, Marion, Elizabeth and David. All born in New Cumnock, Ayrshire. All children except Andrew immigrated to Canada. My information is that Andrew remained in Scotland due to a club foot and was not allowed to immigrate due to immigration standards. Ann Weir Gemmill died March 16, 1848 and is buried in Rosetta, Ontario, Canada.
