I am trying to trace my ancestry from Ochiltree. My mother was Janet McMillan Rankin, born 22 June 1917, Main Rd, Ochiltree, and her mother was Joan Rankin. Sisters to Joan Rankin were Marion and Janet.

I have a Susan Rankin who married Forrester Muir in 1834. Susan was born in Barony. Do you have any Muir's in your Rankin Line.

My Janet McMillan died in route to US but her husband boarded the children with a John Rankin In Indiana when they arrived. I noticed the similarity in names. Do you think there could be a connnection? My Janet born in Ayrshire Scotland and emigrated 1847or 1848.
