Hello Everyone!
I am a new, but crazed, geneaologist.
Here is what I know.
My grandmother was born Mary
Ferguson Clelland September 21, Parkersburg,
Iowa, USA
Her mother was Janet Herbert Ferguson*, born September 24, 1869 in Mauchline, Ayrshire,
Scotland. She was a threadmill worker.
Janet H. Ferguson married Robert Clelland**, a butter and cheese manufacturer, born July 16, Crooksholm, Kilmarnock
Parish, Ayrshire.
They were married July 28, 1892 in
Paisley, County
Renfrew. At the time of their marriage, they both lived in
Paisley. She at 1
Lindon Place and he at 1 Gordon Place.
They came to the US and were naturalized in Chicago,
Illinois on August 11, 1893.
*Her parents were Mary (M.S.) McKay born May 22, 1841 in
Paisley,
Scotland.
She married John
Ferguson, born March 13, 1838 in Old Cumnock,
Scotland. John
Ferguson was a "pit engine keeper" (? mining?).
**Robert Clelland's parents were
Archibald Clelland, a mason, born November 6, 1823 in Ayrshire.
His wife was Marion (M.L.) Aird, born in Darvel,
Scotland. (Her information is somewhat suspicious since I obtained it simply from the fact that it was written in under her daughter's on the daughter's marriage certificate, so I am assuming that this is the mother.)
Janet Herbert
Ferguson had 13 brothers and sisters and I would love to find them, as well as ANY other information on any of these individuals that may be available. I can give information from after Robert
Clelland and Janet Herbert
Ferguson Clelland came to the U.S. and ended up here in
Iowa.
PLEASE, can anyone help me or point me in a direction?
Thanks and best of the
Holiday season to you all!
Beth
