I have a Willaim Mcdonald m 12-10-1850 Annie Bennie b 1828. They had two daughters Margaret b 17-3-1850 and Elizabeth b 27-1-1858. They may have had more children. They must have come to New Zealand between 1858 and 1873 when Margaret my gr grandmother married in 1873.

Information I have is unconfirmed. I have a John Bennie b 1817 d 1877. No middle names for Annie but her parants were David Bennie & Margaret Sym.

I was most interested in your mention of Margaret as I am researching SYM/SYME/SIM/SIME in Ayrshire. Do you happen to know who Margaret's parents were?

The IGI lists Margaret & David's marriage on 3 Jun 1814, in Stevenston, with the banns earlier being posted on 14 May 1814 in Ayr. It also lists the christenings of the following children:

Janet - 26 Mar 1815 - Stevenston
Margaret - 30 Aug 1818 - Kilwinning
Janet - 30 Jul 1826 - Dundonald
Ann - 22 Jun 1828 - Dundonald
Boyd Miller - 4 Jul 1824 - Dundonald - [patron submission]

If you come across any further information on Margaret's background, I would really appreciate knowing.

Cathy I have slipped way behind on the research but hope when the farm work slows up I can get back to it. I haven't any of the names except Ann for the same year and nothing more on Margaret yet.
