I have a Bernard McCardle born in Ireland circa 1796. He died in Ayr 1846 and is interred at St.Quivox Parish in Ayrshire. If any help, I have info on descendants.

Hi jenny
you must be a relative of mine.
I have just started to find my family and saw your message.
my grandfather was Charlie Goddard, and his father was James Goddard of Yateley so I think we are in the same family. Please let me know if you have a Charlie anywhere on your tree.

Hi Nik,
It was great to have a reply to our message but I don't think there's a connection because our McCardles were in Ayr in the 19th century and later they were in Staffordshire.
Can you let me know which town/village in Ayr you are connected with in case there is a connection way back. We know there were 2 brothers who came from Ireland and we don't know what happened to the second one.
Thank you,
Helen

My grandfathers name was Joseph McCardle born 1898 at The Black Bull in In Joppa Ayr. His fathers name was alexander McCardle and his father was Joseph. He was a silk loom weaver and lived in the St Quivox parish in Ayr. There is some talk from older relatives that the name came from Ireland and was McCarrel

Our first McCardle ancestor in Ayr was James McCardle, he was a miner in Ayrshire. He arrived in Liverpool, England from Ireland in about 1810 with at least 1 brother. The problem is the name appears spelt in various ways including McCordle and McArdle. I haven't come across McCarrel so I will look into it.
