Hi John,

I have several Marthas in consecutive generations in my Lambie family. Can you tell me where she was born/married and if she had a brother Thomas?

I don't know any other Lambie/Lammies. I got her from the birth records in the OPR of the children. Their residence is at Galston, listed as Cessnock. I found a Cessnock Castle and what appears to be a typical famr estate Cessnock southeast of Galston on www.old-maps.co.uk

That's interesting as all my ggg grandfather's family were born at Galston from 1802 to 1820. There is a possibility she is related. What are the names of her children as that quite often gives a clue.

I have the death certificate for Margaret ORR, wife of William LAMBIE, who were married 26 Dec 1828 in Muirkirk.

Margaret died on 19 Oct 1882 age 82, in Wishaw, Lanarks., parents were William ORR, miner and Janet HAMILTON. From the IGI, it looks as if Margaret was christened in Dalserf, Lanarks., on 14 Dec 1800. Her parents seem to have moved around a lot between Ayrshire and Lanarkshire.

What absolutely wonderful news. She is my GGGrandother!!

Could you contact me off list, as I would love a copy of this as I have not identifed either Margaret or William's deaths. In fact I have not positively identified them in any of the census.

Thank you so much for posting this message

Margaret
