I am looking for imformation on William Johnston who was born in Ayr Scotland and married janet Govan. They either moved or had sme connection with Dumfriess as well I am a descendant of one of his children William Johnston who migrated to Australia in 1839 and would love to find anything out of our Scottish heritage and the family

I have George Johnston (my gr grandfather born c.1864) and his father John Johnston but at present thats the limit of knowledge I have except that they were from Dumfries

I think William Johnston and Janet Govan were my great, great, great garandparents (though I am not certain). Their son John Johnston married Bridget Buckley and they had a daughter Bridget Johnston. She married John Gayford Wigg at Donnybrook in Victoria, ustralia. I can help from John Gayford on but I know almiost nothing about his forbears. Did you find out anyhting. I would love to find out about the Scottish bit too and also the Tipperary bit (Bridget). I suspect your William is another of their children.
