Hi Justin sorry for the delay in replying. However, I have been so tied up with the Scottish portal web portal this is the first I have been able to reply. Now I believe the reason the records were destroyed was to avoid persecution. My cousin who did a lot of the research for our family would not tell me the entire story for some reason.

Alexander Scott (1818-1904) was from Dollar, but went to Canada in the 1850's and was merchant in Stratford, Ontario. Around 1903 he went back to Scotland and died 26 AUG 1904 at East Mayish, Brodick, on Arran. Other than the undertaker, Peter Hunter, of Invercloy, Brodick, nothing is mentioned about where he was buried. He is not buried in his family plot in Toronto.

I assume he was visiting Arran at the time he died. I would be interested if anyone had gone through the cemeteries in Brodick. I am looking for where Alexander Scott might be buried.

Hi Justin I think my Taylor's might have come over with your ancestors. If they didn't the records for that ship were destroyed purposely from what I am told. My MacKinnons arrived in the Dalhouse area around the same time but on a ship they hired.
John came over to Point La Nim, between 1831 and 1835 during the Arran Clearances that took place between 1829 and 1840. I am still looking for a ship passenger list that has both his and Catherine's name. The brig Caledonia was the first ship to leave Arran with Arran families but it left in 1831 and John's name is not on the list. My family tree, Point La Nim MacCurdy family tree, is open for public viewing.
Thanks,
Justin

Hi Daniel,
I am actually looking for information on a Mary MacKinnon from the isle of Arran who married my gggg-grandfather in Levincorrach, Kilmory Parish on the isle of Arran. She married Lachland McCurdie. Their son, John McCurdie, came to Point La Nim, Restigouche county and built the home that my grandmother, Elizabeth MacCurdy, currently lives in. If you happen to have any information on a Mary MacKinnon, I would greatly appreciate it. If I happen across anything in my emails to the Isle of Arran Heritage museum, I will share it with you.
Thanks,
Justin MacCurdy

Thanks for responding. I am actually doing the genealogy for the Dwyer family -- they are related to te Perrotts, Taylors, MacKinnons, Loves, etc. Harold Patterson Perrott was born in 1914 and died in 1995 in Charlo. He was married to Rita Marie Firlotte -- his parents were Nathaniel Wadsworth Perrott (1877-1918) and Margaret Jennett Taylor (1884-1924). Margaret's 2nd husband was Cecil Howard Dwyer (1893-1969) -- Cecil was the grandfather of Myles Dwyer, for whom I am doing the genealogy. Do you have charts that you can share--I have not yet put family charts on ancestry.ca but I do have extensive charts that I have created in SmartDraw (a software package.)

Martin

My people came from the Island of Arran in Scotland to Restigouche County in New Brunswick between the 1830 and 1840's. I am looking for pictures of James Taylor who married Mary Love. I am also looking for details such as marriage dates, death etc with the Taylor's, MacKinnon and Love famalies.

Dan
