Classification: Biography
Surnames: Campbell of Kintyre.
For over 3 years now, I have been undertaking very extensive & detailed historical research, into a long forgotten military incident which occured in mid-1798 in what was then French occupied Belgium.

Mortally wounded in this, whilst couragiously leading his men, & then to die several days later, being buried with full military honours by the French, was a "son of Argyll", Lt. Col. Hugh CAMPBELL, who I believe, according to sources including the LDS website, was born in Southend, Kintyre, in late 1755, son of the Rev. David Campbell & Elizabeth (Montgomerie).

In order to build-up a picture of this man, his family, friends, & his way of life in Kintyre, I would like to locate any further information which I can please.

I have located his Will, made shortly before his embarkation to meet with his destiny, on which he mentions a number of individuals, some of whom may have lived in Argyll, as follows -

Col.. Campbell of Askomill. (his brother-in-law). married Mary?
Dugold Campbell of Skildalaig. ( his nephew).
Donald Morrison.( old & faithful servant.)
Barbara Moody. ( unclear as to connection)
Charlotte Campbell. ( " " )
Barnard Tuite. ( servant of his brother.)
Mrs Mary Campbell. (married sister)
Margaret " (sister)
Claire " ( " )
Mrs. Eyton. (dear friend.)

If any FH enthusiasts in the area can give me any help, I would be very grateful.
