For Pat and Allana and others,
I think my Archibald MCCRANIE (McCraney, McCraine, McRaney) might just be the ancestor we're all looking for. The only thing I have on him is that he married Ann MCLEAN (!?!). Their son, Murdoch, born about 1707, Jura, Argyll was the immigrant to America arriving about 1739 in North Carolina. I have nothing on his wife, but Murdoch's son, John H. MCCRANIE born 1757/8 Robesonson Co., SC married to Katherine LASLIE (Lasley, Lashley) born 1784 Montgomery Co., GA, was the ancestor to untold numbers of descendants, many of whom are still living in the southern part of the USA.
I have found one McRaney cousin already and would love to find others, no matter the spelling!
