Hi I was wondering if anyone has any information on Benjamin Battie, he was born in 1790, in the Peterhead region and was married to a Mary Greig, with whom he had a son Benjamin Batty who was born in 1815, however I have hit a dead end trying to find out if he had any more children, and information on his own parents. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thanks Andrew

In IGI I note the son Benjamin Battie was christened 4 Sept 1814 at Longside as you more or less indicated. There are also 2 births to Benjamin Batty and Mary Black at Longside around the same period who might be part of your search. Mary Logan Batty ch. 6 Jan 1816 and Ruth Batty ch. 6 Jan 1815. I've no connection with this family.

Thankyou, that seems to help and add up with what I had in my tree for his son. May I ask what IGI is? Have only recently started the tree and havent come across this term!

The International Genealogical Index (or IGI) holds some transcribed birth/christening, marriage and death/burial records compiled by the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The British Isles records are mainly birth/baptism and marriage records, with just a few death/burial records, from parish and non-conformist registers from the 1500s onwards. You can search for these records at http://www.familysearch.org. Hope this is of help.
