Hi,

I have a handwritten letter from a relative which seems to say that my grandmother Mary Anne Stone came to the U.S. from "Ferleoy, Moate, County Westmeath." I can't find Ferleoy or anything similar, and don't know if it's misspelled or if I'm misreading the handwriting.

I am also ignorant of Ireland's system of naming areas. So I see that Moate is a town in the County of Westmeath, but I don't understand whether whatcha-ma-call-it is a parish or district or a barony or what.
