Just in case your search for Cox in Hampshire throws up the name Richard, I thought I would let you know of my search. My gt gt grandfather was apparently born in Southampton in 1807 (not proven yet) and his DC states that his parents were Richard Cox and Isabella Green. Richard (jun) was a seaman, Richard (sen) a gardener.
