I am looking for information on my ancestors from Sligo. My ggf Michael O'Hara b. Jan 1879 in Ballina came to America in 1924 by way of Govan, Glasgow, Scotland. There he married Catherine "Kate" Murray in 1905. Kate was born in Easkey in Feb 1883. She had a second cousin listed on the ship manifest as her nearest relative in Glasgow when she came to America in 1925. His name was "Peter McGowan" and lived on Queen Street in Govan. Michael listed his brother "Patrick O'Hara" as his relative in New York, on the ship manifest. Michael's obituary says that when he died in 1957, he had 4 sisters in Youngstown, Ohio (my aunt believes on of them may have been named "Delia"). It also mentioned a brother still in Ireland. I found a photo of his parents in my grandma's photo album that was taken in 1915 with a 6-year-old named "Tommy". The parent's names are written as "Honor and Paddy", however the other records I've found indicate Michael's father's name was "Thomas". Honor's surname was "Foody". Her parents may have been "Michael Foody" and "Ellen Tiernan", from Castleconnor. I have also tracked a "James O'Hara" that lived next to Michael in the Bronx, NY around 1930, then in North Plainfield, NJ around 1940. I am not sure if this was a brother, nephew or cousin.

My grandma used to go to Ireland to visit relatives who owned the Benbulben Hotel in Enniscrone. My uncle said there was a relative named "Val O'Hara" still living in the original O'Hara homestead in Sligo that they visited in the 1980s or 1990s.

Any information you can offer would be extremely helpful.

Thank you,

Erin O'Hara Patrick
