Oh Gosh, your message is so old at this point. I hope you get this response! Is this the family you're talking about?

C. Town is likely Cavanagh's Town, as I have seen it spelled out on some baptismal records. Thomas McGuire is a baptismal sponsor for my great great grandfather's twin sisters (Cecelia and Anna):

1. Michael CAVANAGH
sp: Bridget CAWLEY (m.29 Oct 1837)
|-2. Mary CAVANAGH (a.1 Sep 1839-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Residence: Rathclo??ny
Sponsors: Michael Sheridan, Mary Cavanagh
Father's first name not readable on record, but think Mary belongs to this family.
Likely died young as has sibling of same name.
|-2. James CAVANAGH (a.4 Jun 1842-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Ireland, Sligo County, Kilglass Parish
Baptismal Sponsors: Bryan Cawly, Mary Finigan
Residence: Cav Town (likely Cavanagh's Town)

|-2. Patrick CAVANAGH (a.17 Nov 1854-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
+-2. Twins CAVANAGH (a.12 Dec 1858-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Ireland, Sligo County, Kilglass Parish
Baptismal Sponsors: Thomas McGuire, Briget Cavanagh
Residence: C Town (Cavanagh's Town)

I am unclear how Mary Cavanagh relates to the rest of the line. I would say she was a sister to my GGG grandfather, Michael Cavanagh, but there are some big questions. Do you think it possible that your Mary was married before? She only has a few children, but she could possibly be the same Mary who was married to Michael Sheridan.

I have gone through LDS microfilm #1279204, writing down all of the Cavanaghs in Kilglass Parish and grouping them into families where possible. Only a few months ago did I learn that my GG grandfather, James Cavanaugh, had parents of Michael Cavanagh and "Bea" Cawley. As I have gone through all of those records, I realized the baptismal sponsors are frequently married to Cavanaghs, and therefore in my records. This allowed me to make a possible connection to you. Do you think it possible that this is also your Mary?

1. Michael SHERIDAN
sp: Mary CAVANAGH (m.9 Mar 1836)
|-2. John SHERIDAN (a.12 Mar 1837-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Kilglass Parish, Sligo, Ireland
Baptismal Sponsors: Michael Cavanagh, Biddy Cavanagh
Residence: Thesnynoonate?
|-2. Bridget SHERIDAN (a.26 Jan 1840-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Kilglass Parish, Sligo, Ireland
Baptismal Sponsors: Owen Murray, Bridget Cawly
Residence: Knockrogh?
|-2. Patrick SHERIDAN (a.29 Jan 1841-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Kilglass Parish, Sligo, Ireland
Baptismal Sponsors: John Calhan, Biddy O'Connor
Residence: Cavanagh's Town
|-2. Michael SHERIDAN (a.19 Jun 1848-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Twin of James
Sponsors: James Cavanagh, Rose Sheridan.
|-2. James SHERIDAN (a.19 Jun 1848-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Twin of Michael.
James Murray and Bridget Cavanagh sponsors.
|-2. Thomas SHERIDAN (a.6 Jul 1852-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Baptism sponsors: James Cavanagh and Bridget Cavanagh
+-2. James SHERIDAN (a.29 May 1854-Kilglass Parish,County Sligo,Ireland)
Baptism sponsors: James Cavanaugh, Bridget Cavanagh.

Note that the McGuire children start in 1856, shortly after the Sheridan children leave off, although that was certainly enough for a family!

I'd be happy to hear anything you've learned since your 2002 post. Take care!
