It looks like through the posts I may have tracked down my wife's ancestors. James Dowds born in County Down in 1827 and married to Margaret Rourk (moved to Fife Scotland) look like the parents of Samuel, who married Mary Porteous, moved to Durham, and are the parents of William Dowds, my wife's grandfather. Does anyone have any further info on where James Dowds may have lived, and who are any further ancestors?
