I'm looking for any information on the family of Francis DUFFICY, and/or his wife Alicia LANE (dau of Thomas LANE). Both were born in Roscommon County, Ireland, near Strokestown during the 1800s.
Family rumor has it they ran away to New Orleans, US, around 1846 with their 6 children after Francis' brother was associated with the murder of their landlord, "Lord HYDE(?);" the landlord maltreated the starving peasants.
Would love to hear from anyone that has information on either the DUFFICY and/or LANE families. And would especially love it if someone could direct me to newspaper, or other sources that would substantiate the murder story!
