Hi Lesley...I see you haven't made any posts since 2012, so I'm hoping you are still a member of Ancestry and will get an email notification if I respond to this post.
I also have a strong Moffat connection with my Finn line in the Loughglynn region of Roscommon. I was doing some Moffat searching and came across you posting...so here goes....I have documented 9 of the children born to Thomas + Mary. Fortunately 5 of those births were in the GRO Civil Birth Records and they all listed the townland as Derrylahan. A search of the Griffiths Valuation produced one hit for Thomas in Derrylahan. What I believe to be the first male child born to Thomas was named Patrick which if he and his wife were following normal naming patterns this would be the name of Thomas' father and now with a very optimistic outlook it just so happens that there is a Patrick Moffat listed occupying land in the townland of Urrasaun which just happens to be the adjacent townland to Derrylahan. I've still got a fair amount of research to do, but the next male child after Patrick was named John and again if they were following the normal Irish naming pattern this would be the name of Mary's Father. I maintain a large database for my personal genealogy research and I have entered the record for the last child born to Thomas + Mary. you can view it at the following URL...

This is the only record I have entered at present, but by the end of this weekend I should have all 9 children entered as well as the marriage of the parents (which you already have).
As for my Moffatt connection, I have a John Finn the son of Edward Finn & Honor Sharkey. John was born in Grallagh, Tibohine, Co. Roscommon and immigrated to Chicago where he married Catherine Moffatt (from Frenchpark, Roscommon) and had a very large family in Chicago. I presently do not have a record in my database for John, but I do have a record for his father (Edward Finn) which you can view at the following URL...

John Finn's record is now online. It is a link under the children of Edward Finn.
