Surnames: Tully or Dully
I live in the United States and I am trying to trace my family history on the Dully's or the Tully's. My last name was changed when my ancestors came to the U.S. Are there any exsisting Dully's or Tully's who may be related, please write back with any information I'd really appreciate it Thanks!

Dear Noreen,

First of all, Thank you so much for replying! All I know about my family history is that my first known ancestors names are Antawn Dully(Tully) and Mary Wanker who immigrated from Munster or around Munster Ireland. They then came to the United States. My great grandparents names are Mary Vondron and Alfred Dully who resided in Pittsburgh, PA. Do any of these names sound familiar to you? If not I would still like to hear from you and find out what information you have to share with me. May I ask where your from? Please write me back I'am very interested to know about my family history. Write me back at: Babyblueyez983@aol.com. Thank you,

Hi There,

I'm from Ireland, living in Dublin. My grandfather/grandmother were Dully's from Athlone. They emigrated to the States and then returned home to Athlone in the 20's where they lived out the remainder of their long lives. The name orginiates from Athlone around the 1140's when the Normans invaded Ireland, it being a Norman name. Many of my granfather's direct relatives would have emigrated to America around the time he did but did not return. I would Imagine we're related!

Hi Graham,

Might we be cousins? My grandmother currently lives in Athlone. Didn't realise until now that the name is norman. Just started looking into this today.

Am very curious to hear any info from anyone about this. I'd love to figure out which Dully first came to Ireland and what their background was etc.

Thanks!
