Annette, it was lovely to see you name show up! You gave me help on another issue I was having a few years ago.I think it was my Kingston Farrells. I was grateful then and am still so!
Some time back, I found some of the info on Donaghmoyne.com. I did not have the emails for the two priests. Thank you. Yesterday I send out a request similar to that which I posted on this message board, wondering if I could in some way learn in what churces an RC couple married in the Parish of Donaghmoyne might have attended. Sent it to an email for the Diocese. But now, with your suggestion, I'm thinking I will address a note to both priests to let them know when we will be arriving and asking if it would be too audacious to request a look at the register for an 1845 marriage of Ward/Martin.
Inasmuch as the RC marriages will be available later this summer for searching online, I won't use up precious time in NLI, not to mention cost.
If I could determine the corresponding townland (of the 3 churches) with the Griffiths, I might be able to zero on the possible church. So far, it appears St Patricks in Broomfield is in Castleblayney. Lisdoonan is a townland. I'm using a couple sources, mostly IrishTimes.
Thanks for the tips on restrictions at NLI!!
Wondering what you're referring to Dublin sights. We will be there for a week, so we have plenty of time for exploring Dublin. We will rent a car at the airport and head to Donegal first, where we have found our paternal Drumhome Farrells and cousins who have lived in the area since birth! That took time to find contact people, but it's the very best of what we ever dream of happening. Very excited.
The info on the Donaghmoyne Ward/Martin folks is very sketchy -- little more than the marriage and baptism of two kids. I'm hoping to stay there two days and do a look through the library at Carrickmacross maybe.
I'm babblying now! Annette, I truly appreciate your gracious willingness to help me and others.
