Classification: Query
Surnames: SHEERIN, MARTIN, REILLY, FITZPATRICK, FOLEY, KALIHAN, MURREY, McKENNA, NEARY, KELLETT, ALLEN, JONES, CUNNINGHAM, CASTLES, REYNOLDS.
My gr-gr-grandfather Patrick SHARON/SHEERIN emigrated together with a large company of other families, perhaps from Trim in Co. Meath, in c1821, first directly to Canada, then, after about a year, they all migrated to northern NY state. The other families' surnames included MARTIN, REILLY, FITZPATRICK, FOLEY, KALIHAN, MURREY, McKENNA, NEARY, KELLETT, ALLEN, JONES, CUNNINGHAM, CASTLES, REYNOLDS.
Any clue as to why they left?
Do any of these surnames ring a bell?
