Surnames: Carney, Cassidy, Linney, Tauffe,Taffee
I've only managed limited info so far, so any help gratefully received.
My Grandmother - Celia Cassidy (1905 - 1979), married Michael Linney - no dates, he was in the Garda and the family moved to Farcarragh 1940's???
They had 3 children, Thomas (Gus), (1932 - 1992), John (died in an accident in Spain) and my mother, living.
Celia's siblings:
Annie Carney (nee Cassidy), oldest women in Ballyhaunis, died 6 June 07, aged 107 so DoB must be 1900
John Cassidy - no info
Paddy Cassidy - no info
Jim Cassidy - married May and they lived in Ashton under Lyn, not sure if they met in England or Ireland. They had a pub for a while - no more details.
Jim and May's daughter Margaret was a good friend of my mother, but they lost touch.
Step brother Michael Cassidy
Celia's parents (my greatgrandparents) were Patrick Cassidy and Maria Tauffe/Taffe, Maria died aged 35 and Patrick remarried. No-one can remember the name of his second wife.
I'm told the Cassidy family were all in Ballyhaunis, but apart from Annie, I've not been able to verify anything.
Anyone have any suggestions of where to go next? I'm really struggling with the Irish side of the family.
Thanks
