While researching all the the Godwins in Scranton,PA, from 1865 on, I ran across a news article that dealt with the contesting of the Will of John J. Godwin in 1894. That lead me to the Register of Wills in Lackawanna County where I obtained copies of the Wills. The Godwins from Mayo had first cousins in Claremorris and family in Kilmain. The Walsh cousins in the US and in Mayo were beneficaries in these wills along with the children of John and James' brother Peter Godwin who predeceased them.
Other cousins included Michael and Thomas Thornton of Ireland. John Walsh, Michael Walsh (his brother) , Patrick Walsh, Ellie Walsh, Maggie Walsh, Mary Walsh were specific names. Patrick Walsh was the executor of John J.'s Will. Michael O'Connor, a long friend and companion of James, also was named a beneficiary of property in Scranton,PA.
