General and Dr. Edward Hand

Edward Hand, born December 31, 1744 in Clyduff, Leinster, Kings County, Ireland, was the famous General who fought side-by-side with General George Washington in the Revolutionary War. I am looking for sibling names and his parents names in Ireland and I'm not having much luck with the databases I have viewed so far. If you have any information, would you please be so kind as to e-mail me? Or point me in the right direction?

Thank you for reading this e-mail

Sincerely,

deborah gaynor

No, I haven't yet. I'm trying to piece together the connection between the two families. My sister and I are planning a trip to the DAR in Washington DC in a couple of weeks. Are you in the US or Ireland, Tom?

I am in Columbus, Ohio and come off Jasper's line. The General is my 5th great grandfather and I am only 1 of 8 males that carry the Hand name that are direct descendants from the General. I did run on a site that shows William Hand and Millicent Baker (Bakar) who were married on November 5. 1611 and had chilren Ellen, Edward, Mary and Margaret. I didn't see anything from Edward coming our direction but the names Mary and Margaret make me wonder. My daughter is going to Ireland in April. I would love anything you find and if you care to converse this site is good or my email is unionhand@yahoo.com

Not sure if you are still trying to piece it together, but Hand is not a very common name in Ireland and I happened to marry one. If you are still looking for a link, try writing to Christy Hand, Mountrath Street, Kilcormac, Co Offaly, Ireland. He is my ex-husband's uncle and the member of the family most likely to be able to help you. If you don't have any luck let me know and I'll ask a few questions, but its probably best coming from you as he's "ex" for a reason!!

Good luck

Hand

Hi there,

I just sent you another post before I had read this one. I am Edward's son, Steve. My father and mother emigrated to the Toronto area and my father was a police officer in Oakville (just outside of Toronto) for 30 years. I have an older brother and two older sisters. I was born in 1971.

Maybe we can collaborate to fill in the missing pieces.

Best,
Steve

My Name is Brian Hand and I am attempting to find lineage between the General and my family. I have found what appears all his children, great grand children and great great grand children. The oldest link on my end is my great grand father Matthew Hand born about 1866. Any help would be greatly appiciated.
