I am searching for any info whatsoever about a John MOODY b.c1760's??? perhaps in Co. Londonderry, Ire., who was married 1st to wife's name unknown, and had a son William MOODY. John married 2nd to a widow named Mrs. KENNEDY but her maiden name was Perkinson or Parkinson or something like that and they had a son Robert and a daughter Esther or Ellen MOODY.
Sons and half brothers William and Robert MOODY came to America (Pennsylvania) around c1816. Robert died in his 20's somewhere on a boat trip up the OH River I believe but William Moody lived in the Pittsburgh, PA area and was quite successful as were his descendants.
Our Ydna Moody's also came from Co. L'derry, Ire. but much earlier...c1735 and also to PA. It was stated that William and Robert stayed with relatives in PA when they first arrived in PA in c1816. I have been trying establish a link between this "bleach green John Moody" and his family and our Ydna Moody family but so far have been unsuccessful.
We also have yet another Ydna Moody who came to PA early on who was a Linen Weaver from Nor. Ireland named Samuel MOODY, chances are quite good he may be related to this bleach green John Moody and that all 3 of these Moody lines (2 of whom we are confirmed connected via Ydna test results that appeared in PA), but this William & Robert MOODY batch we are still unsure of.
I am hoping someone here may be able to help out.
The only other thing I know of this bleach green John Moody family is that son William Moody was sent to school in Newtown-Limavady where his Grandmother lived. I don't know if this was a paternal or maternal grandmother though and this is only info that has been passed on to me and I have no way of knowing if it is correct.
Also from our earliest Ydna Moody family the name of "Newton" was used several times and I have always wondered if it weren't some use of a connection to this "Newtown/Newton-Limavady" area back in their birth land of Co. L'derry.
Any help at all greatly appreciated.
Thank You.
