Charles & Cecilia O'Neil from Ireland

Posted before but I am trying to find out where my ancestors came from in Ireland. They are on the 1851 Scottish census in Glasgow with their children. Charles was shown being born around 1814 in Ireland, as is Cecilia around 1816. Most of their children were born in Ireland. Any help would be appreciated as I would like to look through the new parish records. I am assuming they were Catholic's.
Thanks
Jim

Many Irish people who settled in Glasgow claimed under the Poor Law. If so, they will have been interviewed about their circumstances and details of their home parish in Ireland will normally have been noted, as well some information on next of kin. The Poor Law records for the Glasgow area are in the Mitchell Library. They will normally do a look up, for a fee. Suggest you search for the family there. Otherwise it’s a needle in a haystack.
